Artist statement
“I wanted to present this work to provide accessibility to this rich history that Chinatowns have. I think this information is not widely known, and so especially during a time where our Chinatowns are being disproportionately affected due to the resurgence of yellow peril, we should be reminded of the resilience that built our neighborhoods. We are facing a lot as a community, especially with attacks, discrimination, and private developers using this global pandemic as an opportunity to continue gentrifying the neighborhood.”
